Facebook shook the tech world’s foundation a bit with the announcement of Graph Search capability. Users are anxious for a chance to play with the new feature, and attackers are looking forward to this potent new weapon, er, tool as well.
In a nutshell, Facebook Graph Search is a search engine that allows you to find things based on relationships and context—basically drawing from the limitless pool of Likes, tags, and check-ins posted by a billion Facebook members.

January 17, 2013 at 12:13 am Call it malware cash and carry: Less than 24 hours after Oracle on Sunday released a security update that addresses two critical zero-day vulnerabilities in Java that are being actively exploited by attackers, an online vulnerability seller began offering a brand-new Java bug for sale.
“On Monday, an administrator of an exclusive cybercrime forum posted a message saying he was selling a new Java 0day to a lucky two buyers. The cost: starting at $ 5,000 each,” said security reporter Brian Krebs, who was the first to report the vulnerability sales offer.

January 16, 2013 at 6:12 pm Microsoft upgraded its System Center suite Tuesday to make it a hybrid cloud manager and a more complete manager of the capabilities included in Windows Server 2012, launched last September.
As System Center 2012 and Windows Server 2012 mesh more tightly together, Microsoft has achieved what it refers to as its “Cloud Operating System,” in the words of Michael Park, corporate VP for server and tools business marketing, in an interview. The term means mainly that System Center can now scale across many Windows Server 2012 servers, and link up operations that may be scattered across more than one data center.

January 16, 2013 at 12:13 am EMC on Monday enhanced its flagship VMAX storage array with support for new processors, a new storage interconnect, mixed drive configurations and updates to its Enginuity operating system.
The enhancements are to the VMAX 10K, the entry-level VMAX array and EMC’s array for small to mid-size enterprises. Two other higher-end VMAX’s that are also part of this family — the VMAX 20K and the VMAX 40K — already support most of these enhancements.

January 15, 2013 at 6:15 am I’ve been a fan of the VIPOrbit contacts app for iOS since it first launched, but two things get in the way of its true potential—well, make that one thing now, thanks to vipSync.
First, a little background on VIPOrbit: It’s a relationship manager more than a contacts app. It allows you to maintain your contacts, classifying them into one or more “orbits”, and to track connections among your contacts.
