Vmware/Mitel Compete With Cisco For Contact-Center Desktop Virtualization

iPad 2 and Kindle Fire Share Many Common Complaints

Tablets are great for a wide variety of mobile computing tasks. The Apple iPad 2 isn’t just an awesome device; it’s “magical” if you believe the Apple marketing hype. As astounding as tablets are, though, they are not without their issues. A recent survey from FixYa uncovers the most common complaints from iPad 2 and Kindle Fire users.

I have both an iPad 2, and a Kindle Fire, and I love them both. However, I can also attest to at least some of these top issues reported by FixYa.

Cisco & Friends Debate Cloud Future

Cloud computing is evolving to the point where unique clouds will be developed for specific industry verticals such as health care, government or financial services, predicts a Cisco Systems executive speaking at the CloudConnect 2012 conference this week in Silicon Valley. This runs contrary to what some have called the Coke versus Pepsi rule, that companies would not want to be in multi-tenant cloud environments with their competitors.

Skanska Joins The Data-Center Mod Squad

Infrastructure and construction contractor Skanska USA has unveiled what it is calling one of the most efficient, greenest data centers in the world. The “Mission Critical Center of Excellence” will use Skanska’s new modular design strategy, which will deliver a power usage efficiency (PUE) of 1.15, company officials say. Traditional data centers have a PUE of 2.0, says Terry Rennaker, vice president of Skanska USA COE.

FileTrek Debuts Cloud-Based File Tracking, Sharing And Management Tool

FileTrek Inc., a new entrant to the cloud-based collaboration market, is debuting with a file sharing and tracking product that tells an organization the location of a file, who has worked on it, the changes that have been made to it, and how it is related to other files. The Ottawa, Canada-based company, which wants to make it easier for customers to track what happens to the content they send out into the world, has also just received $ 10 million in Class B funding from a consortium of investors in the U.S. and Canada led by Anthem Venture Partners, Telesystem, and Ontario Emerging Technologies Funds.
