Automation and Orchestration

Now that virtualization is either implemented or under way at most organizations, vendors are focusing on orchestration and automation of their infrastructure to extract pounds instead of pennies from their customers. The vision that is espoused by vendors goes something like this: Companies are spending time and resources to build servers, script OS and application installations, make storage array and network configuration changes, deliver firewall rules etc., etc. If only we had some clever software that could help to perform these repetitive and expensive tasks.

Windows Phone 7, Day 7: Tie Messaging Together With Threads

30 Days With Windows Phone 7: Day 7

I do a fair amount of instant messaging and texting. There are some reports suggesting that texting is emerging as the preferred method of communication for a smartphone–more than voice. Obviously Windows Phone 7 is capable of both, but with Mango Microsoft adds a new twist. For today’s 30 days With Windows Phone 7 post, I am going to check out the Threads feature.

OK. Things are about to get serious. The first few days of the 30 Days With Windows Phone 7 series have been playing around with a soon-to-be-outdated version of the OS, but now thanks to Microsoft and Federal Express I’ve got my hands on a Samsung Focus running the new Windows Phone 7.5 version of the OS–a.k.a. “Mango”.

Make Money Conducting Webinars with AnyMeeting

Do you have something worth sharing online that you think others would pay to see? AnyMeeting has integrated its online presentation service with PayPal to allow you to charge admission and provide you with a platform to do just that.

I have attended my fair share (and then some) of online presentations. I have also presented more than a few. Having been on both sides of that equation, I know that the vast majority of webinars are free to the participants, and are funded by the marketing budget of the company or product sponsoring the event.

Google+, Day 27: Comparing Google+ with Facebook

30 Days With Google+: Day 27

I have spent most of the 30 Days With Google+ series examining Google+ on its own merits as much as possible. When all is said and done, though, I can’t ignore the fact that Google+ is a social network competing with other social networks. I dedicated Day 26 of the 30 Days With Google+ series to comparing Google+ and Twitter. Today, I will take a look at Google+ and its most direct competitor–Facebook.
