ShareFile Adds Android, iPhone Access To Storage Platform
ShareFile on Thursday announced both iPhone and Android applications for its file sharing and storage platform. The company had previously offered non-native mobile access, but decided to build apps specifically for Apple’s iPhone and Android-based devices in response to a growing number of customer requests, according to ShareFile CEO and founder Jesse Lipson.

BridgeSTOR LLC has announced a storage appliance intended to bring high-end features such as data deduplication and compression to the small-to-medium business/small-to-medium enterprise market. Cisco Weaving A New Data Center Fabric
With improvements and additions that cut across the data center, Cisco today announced updates to their Data Center Business Advantage portfolio. This includes additions to the Nexus line of switches, the Unified Computing System and NX-OS. Cisco has also focused heavily on network fabric technology with this release, providing a response to recent fabric releases from competitors such as Juniper and Brocade.

HP Opens Showcase Green IT Data Center In Colorado
HP on Wednesday opened a new data center that is designed to be a research lab for environmentally sustainable practices that use energy efficiently and have as little environmental impact as possible. The 50,000-square foot facility in Fort Collins, Colo., will be unique among HP research facilities in that it will be the first built at scale, running a full complement of 2,000 to 4,000 servers versus the typical research lab that runs on just 10 to 20 servers.

Intellectual Capital Cybercrime Survey: Companies Reluctant To Investigate, Remediate Sensitive Data Breaches
In the face of growing evidence that cyber-criminals are increasingly focused on intellectual capital and other proprietary business information, many organizations around the globe are nevertheless unlikely to investigate breaches and/or take remedial action. Only a quarter of organizations conduct forensic analysis of a breach or loss, and only half take steps to re-mediate and protect systems for the future after a breach or attempted breach, according to survey data in the McAfee-SAIC report, “Underground Intellectual Capital and Sensitive Corporate Data Now the Latest in Cybercrime.”

Amazon EC2 Dedicated-Server Offerings Addresses GRC Niche
Gartner’s latest Magic Quadrant for Cloud Infrastructure as a Service and Web Hosting, published at the end of 2010, placed Amazon and its Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) offering in the Visionary quadrant. It called Amazon a ‘thought leader’, and ‘extraordinarily innovative, exceptionally agile and very responsive to the market’. On the negative side, it cautioned that the company was the only vendor that did not offer dedicated non-virtualized servers. Until now.

By 2016, 43 percent of U.S. Information workers will work from home at least some of the time, according to Forrester, up from 40 percent today.
