New Identity Automation Tool Enables Self-Service ID, Access Management

A company called Identity Automation has introduced an update of its business and enterprise identity and access management software to enable workers to manage access tools without having to bother the IT department. Version 2.4.0 of its Access Request Management System (ARMS) adds a form-based application for single sign-on (SSO) access to network resources.

Facebook Flaw Exposes Myth of Online Privacy

Facebook is making headlines this week for a flaw that exposed personal photos marked private–including pictures of Mark Zuckerberg and his dog. The glitch is Facebook’s fault, and Facebook responded quickly to address the issue once it was discovered. But, don’t believe for a second that this is the last time private information will be exposed online–on Facebook, or anywhere else.

Google+ Facial Recognition Uses Magic Words–’Opt-In’

Google introduced a facial recognition feature for its Google+ social network. So far, it has been fairly well received—in stark contrast to a similar feature Facebook launched a few months ago. The main difference between the two? Google asked permission.

Both the Google+ and Facebook facial recognition features are designed to automate identifying people in photos to make it easier to tag them. Ostensibly, it will keep people more connected, drive interaction, and improve the social networking experience overall. That is, unless it is viewed as a creepy invasion of privacy.

Just yesterday I was writing about how much the Box app on my iPad helps make the Apple tablet better. With the proverbial ink not yet dry on that post, today Box is launching new and improved iOS app that make it an even more valuable—possibly indispensible—tool for the iPhone and iPad.
