30 Days With Windows Phone 7: Day 25
One thing I never worried about with my iPhone was the battery. I charge my smartphone every night while I am sleeping, and my iPhone always made it through the day without me giving it a second thought. With Windows Phone 7–not so much. For today’s 30 Days With Windows Phone 7 post I am going to check out ways to squeeze every last ounce of juice out of this “Mango”.

October 4, 2011 at 1:24 pm I discussed in a previous article the necessity of abandoning IPv4 thinking when creating IPv6 address designs, and how our deeply ingrained need to conserve addresses can muddle our thinking. Nowhere does this conservative aversion to address waste snarl at us as menacingly as when we consider – completely compliant with the recommendations of ARIN and other RIRs – assigning /64 subnets to point-to-point links.

October 4, 2011 at 7:13 am Attunity has announced Attunity Replicate, data replication software that the company says provides the same performance as similar software products from other major vendors but is much simpler to use, doesn’t require users to install software on their computers and costs about half as much. It is mainly intended for the replication of big transaction data from databases, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and IBM DB2.

October 4, 2011 at 1:14 am Juniper has announced a new go to market strategy for the enterprise LAN called Simply Connected. The strategy has two connotations, according to Juniper. Users simply want to connect to the network easily and quickly and IT wants easy to manage networking extending from the user to the core.

October 3, 2011 at 1:15 pm On the one hand, the recent acquisition by HDS of BlueArc simply affirmed the symbiotic relationship that the two companies have. But in another sense, it represents a tighter integration, such as for product development plans and resources allocated to their implementation, as a key piece of HDS’ greater storage strategy. And understanding that strategy will hopefully shed some light as to where the storage industry is going as a whole.

October 3, 2011 at 7:14 am Amazon is expected to unveil its Kindle Tablet at a press event in New York on Wednesday. From what we know so far about the device, it seems like it might be the first tablet rival capable of really competing with the Apple iPad. Based on the size and use of the Kindle brand, though, it is reasonable to wonder whether the Kindle Tablet is a true tablet PC, or just a Kindle with some tablet features.

October 2, 2011 at 7:17 am It’s here. Windows Phone 7.5 “Mango” started rolling out to devices today, and it brought a few surprises along for the ride.
When Windows Phone 7 was first launched, it received tepid reviews. It was missing key features like the capability to copy and paste text, and many of the core functions of the device like Wi-Fi, Outlook messaging, and general OS performance were lacking.

October 2, 2011 at 1:13 am It may take a couple of years before an organization will have to make the switch to IPv6, but there is no question that the switch will be made and the majority of IT professionals aren’t prepared. According to a recent survey, 80% of about 2,400 respondents feel they are not educated enough on the subject to perform an IPv6 migration, half don’t know which of their network elements support IPv6 today, and 70% are concerned about whether they can successfully implement an IPv6 deployment.

October 1, 2011 at 7:14 am 30 Days With Windows Phone 7: Day 24
I have never had the misfortune of losing my mobile phone. If I ever did, though, I would definitely be thankful for services like those offered by Microsoft for Windows Phone 7.5 “Mango” and the windowsphone.com site.
The main windowsphone.com site has information about Windows Phone in general–overviews of the features, a link to the Web-based app Marketplace, a link to compare and buy one of the many Windows Phone models, and How-to guidance to walk you through the features and functions of the Windows Phone platform.
