$99 TouchPad Too Good to Pass Up

News is spreading quickly online that HP is going to clear out the vast TouchPad inventory by dropping the price to an offer you can’t refuse. Rumor has it that beginning tomorrow the 16Gb TouchPad will be $ 99, and the 32Gb TouchPad will be a measly $ 149.

If you asked me three weeks ago about a TouchPad, I would have said you should absolutely not get one. For the same money you could get an iPad 2 which is a vastly superior tablet.

Panzura Builds Private And Hybrid Clouds

Until I got a detailed briefing from Panzura’s Randy Chow the other day, I had lumped Panzura into the cloud storage gateway category. While their Alto controllers and panOS can use a public cloud provider like Amazon S3 or Nirvanix as a storage back end, Panzura’s value proposition isn’t providing an on-ramp to public cloud storage but a true distributed file system that can be accessed simultaneously from multiple locations.

Death of HP TouchPad Changes the Tablet Landscape

The tech world was rocked earlier this week when Google announced its purchase of Motorola Mobility, but that was nothing compared with the bombshell HP dropped today. HP announced in one fell swoop that it is abandoning both the PC and mobile device markets. PCs will live on, but the demise of WebOS eliminates what should have been a major player in the mobile field.
