Fonality Releases Hybrid Cloud/On-Premise UC Platform

Fonality, provider of a platform for delivering enterprise unified communications, has introduced a product update that combines the convenience of cloud computing with the control of on-premise UC. The company’s Fonality PBXtra 5.2 combines phone, email and chat features, and makes it possible for users to transition from existing on-premise technology to more flexible and cost-effective cloud options.

Why Facebook Pages Will Triumph Over Google+ Business Profiles

Google has asked businesses to refrain from jumping on the Google+ bandwagon just yet, and claims to be hard at work developing Google+ Business Profiles that address the unique aspects of a business on a social network as opposed to an individual. Early speculation seems to trip over itself swooning about the benefits and advantages of these not-yet existent Google+ Business Profiles, but I don’t share the enthusiasm.

Apple iPad, Day 8: Managing Contacts on the iPad

30 Days With the iPad: Day 8

One of the most important functions of my PC is to store and manage my contacts. Today for 30 Days With the iPad, I want to take a look at the tools available, and see if the iPad has what it takes to tackle this critical task.

The default option, of course, is the Contacts app in iOS. Populating the Contacts is simple–I just set my iPad to sync contact data from Microsoft Outlook on my PC when I sync the device in iTunes. Voila!

A report from security firm Blue Coat Systems identifies a rising threat to computer users in the enterprise and in the home: Search Engine Poisoning (SEP), in which Web pages delivering a malware payload are made to look like legitimate pages and include keywords that would cause them to come up in search results.

In Search of Infrastructure Visibility

As companies get comfortable with cloud technology, even smaller organizations are venturing into the idea of having their own private clouds. This fact was corroborated by a Unisphere Research survey of 267 members of the Independent Oracle Users Group (IOUG) at the end of 2010. The survey revealed that 29% of organizations had already deployed an internal cloud, while another 15% were piloting, planning or considering private clouds.

SnapLogic Does Data Integration On-Premise Or In The Cloud

There are a number of vendors that provide data integration technology, but SnapLogic is the first to provide data integration whether the data resides in the cloud or in a company’s on-premise data center.
